The Dimwit Outwits the Twit

Sunday, December 29, 2013

He was easy to outwit
Come to think of it
He called me "nitwit"
But he was the twit!

One little sign
Pointed the wrong way
And he’d be lost
For the better part of the day!
(So easy to outwit)!

Grandma so graciously furnishes us with a writing challenge each week. She provides the photo and we supply our imagination. The challenge is to write a short story of 140 words/characters or less using her photo and the weekly bonus word. This weeks bonus word is "Outwit". How low can you go? The challenge is on at succinctly yours

Beauty for our Sake!

Sunday, December 22, 2013

The church was noted for their elaborate services. 43/51

In my blog you will find noted
Yes, you’ll find quoted
Mama’s favorite color is sky blue pink
Such a pretty color;
Don’t you think?  107/127

Clouds of pink
So magnificent
Against cobalt blue
As the sun is spent
Barely keeping dark at bay
Ushering out another day

Wisps of pink
A color of note
Are pretty I think
Put a catch in my throat
Make me do a double take
With a beauty placed here
For our sake!!

Grandma shares a love of words with us by providing a weekly challenge. The above picture is found at succinctly yours. It is your mission, should you choose to accept, to write a short story using the photo as inspiration and including the bonus word "noted" if you like. Our stories should be 140 characters/words or less. How low can you go?

Hoping you have a blessed Christmas with all the joy the Christ child can provide!  Hugs!

Alone with his umbrella

Sunday, December 15, 2013

In the dreary room once stayed
A little man alone, afraid
The only weapon that he had
Was his umbrella, oh so sad….

Have you been to Grandma's Goulash yet? No? Why not? She holds a weekly challenge called Succinctly yours and with her furnished photo we get to weave a story of 140 words/characters or less. Better yet, use the bonus word; which this week is "umbrella". Hey, how low can you go?

Twas a Cold Wintry Night

Sunday, December 8, 2013

May hadn’t been out since the harvest ball and now knew why. Her back made her freeze in her tracks. 81/101

Who/what stood ahead?
Her mind was filled with dread
You reap what you sow
So harvest time had come
Going out after dark
Was pretty dumb….

Why did her car have to die on a night like this? She had been waiting after harvest to get it fixed.  80/102

Twas a cold wintry night
Tho Harvest was now past
She was going to the
Harvest ball,
If anyone asked.

Grandma has offered the above picture for our microfiction challenge this week. Our mission; should we choose to accept it; is to concoct a story using 140 characters/words or less and as a bonus use the bonus word of the week. This week it is "harvest". Join us at and show us just how low you can go.
