Thankful Thursday - Transportation

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

Last winter was rather mild compared to this one. We hire someone to shovel our walk and drive and they have already been to our home more this winter then they were the entire winter last year. In fact March of 2012 we had a record breaking heat wave, which I did not mind one bit. We had temps in the 80s.
This (winter) year not only has it been colder but my car has been down twice. First it was a cam shaft sensor and then the struts so I have been without my car for three weeks. I am already cutting back on my errands because of the weather, but then without a car...I have to wait at the job site looking out the window at the above scenery waiting for hubby. Poor hubby is picking up both Mari and I and giving us rides home. My baby boy works second shift and though they could use a second car, it just is not in the budget yet. Mari left her car in NYC as it would have cost more to get it fixed and bring it. I know she misses her car as I almost hugged mine when I got it back! :-)
1. What kind of transportation do you have access to? We have very limited bus service. It doesn't even cover where her job is, and the hours are limited, then the bus runs every hour, so if you miss it you must wait for the next one, and only till 6 pm. I get out after 6 many evenings.
2. Do you car pool or share a ride to conserve gas/energy?
Thank you for your visit. I sincerely hope you visit Amanda at two questions Thursday and join in the conversation there. It's already buzzing. Take care, stay healthy and God bless!!

I rely on my car, as for public transportation isn't work for me. If I have to catch a bus, I must first walk to bus stop and in this weather, it's a no no.

We don't have carpool here, and I hate waiting :)

Talk about car troubles. I have had my share this year. Transportation is ok where I live, I can take it to the mall, but must drive to a bus station. That means, I cannot go anywhere without a ride or go a very short distance. There is no way to take the bus from where I live to work.
I hope your car troubles will be over soon. Have a great weekend.

There is bus service here but it only serves the main part of town. This is a very small town so we use our cars for everything. My hubby has a less than ten minute drive to work so no reason for a carpool. I do try to consolidate my trips to save gas.

Hi Judy ~~ I am sorry to hear about the trouble your and Mari's cars have been in.

We have only private cars and taxi's (those come from our county seat, 15 miles away).

Mrs. Jim and I carpool when we can fit it with our schedules. That is to conserve gas and make less burden on the cars.

Have a nice week, Jim

We have both vehicles working on our home but one is very very old. So old that you can't leave it out in the rain or it gets into the car.

We do have a city bus here but it only goes to certain areas. Not reliable at all.

I hope you will get your vehicle up and running again. I know what it's like without.

2. I try to do many errands in one outing. I save on gas and etc.
So far I don't carpool but I wish I did.
Soon the kids will have to take the school bus home.

Goodnight Judy.
