Enchanted Skies

Thursday, August 30, 2012

In a box of 100 crayons,
There are none that match it right

Whoever named the color "sky blue"
Has something wrong with his sight

The crystal blue that glows within the sky
and the waters of the sea
Is a color man can't duplicate
though he tries repeatedly
The sky blue pink of sunset
the fluffy white of a sunlit cloud...

Has some enchanted bloggers
Pulling out a camera in a crowd....

Praise God for enchantment
For the beauty 'fore my eyes
Praise God for enchantment
In the beauty of His skies!

Thankful Thursday ~ Mama's arms

Baby being burped

Baby sleeping

Mama holds her baby tight
Secure across her breast
There is no place better
For the child to rest

She relaxes her grip on wakefulness
Falling deeply into sleep
Cause she knows in Mama's arms
There is no need to weep

Mama's arms hold the world at bay
And all the worries that it brings
Mama brings a better day
And from her love joy springs...

Motherhood by God
poem by Judy

We have no problem believing our mother loves us and she will do all that is in her power to show us that love and protect us so why should it be so difficult to trust in God and His infinite wisdom and love? Does He not have our best interest at heart?

Thank you for your visit. Take care, stay healthy and may God richly bless you! This post linked to Two question Thursday. Let's all get together at Amanda's! See you there.

Thankful Thursday - Baby Faces

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

innocent baby

Babies are just darling. You just want to hug and kiss them. Their faces display so many emotions that you can't help but be drawn to them. When I hear about someone hurting a baby it is just unfathomable to me.  It crushes my heart. They are totally dependent upon us for care. I believe that is why God created them to be so endearing and precious. He wanted them to tug at our heart strings.

1. How old is your baby? Mine is 26 and he is the father of this baby. :-)

2. Do you have any grands yet? Well you already know the answer of that one for me. :-) If you don't yet, just wait. Grand babies have a way of wrapping you around their little finger and keeping you there!!

This post linked to two questions Thursday. Please take a moment to stop in. I know you're busy but you won't be sorry. God bless and stay well!!

God's Wings

Trumpet flowers

Trumpet flowers

I love shadows. They bring depth and character to what we see but when I saw this quote by George MacDonald it added even more dimension. Does this mean that when we see a shadow we can rest assured that God's light is somewhere near? Of course it does. :-) Have a blessed and happy day!

Afflictions are but the shadows of God's wings.

Have you bought your kids school shoes yet?

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Famous Footwear for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Cheap clothes aren't deals if the kids won't wear them.

I loved summers with my children because we had a lot of things we loved to do as a family like trips to the zoo, but all good things come to an end and the end of summer brought school shopping.  With four children I needed to find the best deals, ones that enabled us to get the best quality for the lowest prices, but also items my children would wear.  Even if I could find clothing for free (I couldn't!), if they didn't like them and wouldn't wear them, this was not a deal!

BOGO + 15% off Famous Footwear Coupon

We fell in love with Famous Footwear!

Shoes were by far the hardest things to please the kids on but once we found Famous Footwear the problem was solved. Before that we bounced in and out so many stores in the mall, that we are all hungry and frazzled before we even found one pair of shoes!

Take advantage of the back to school special!

At Famous Footwear we quickly found the shoe styles we loved and prices we could afford. Then there were specials that made them even better. Right now Famous Footwear is having a back to school special that adds an additional savings on top of the already great BOGO offer of 15% to 20% savings and a coupon you can print up at their website and take into the store with you.  Redeem your coupon from August 2 through August 18.

I can't say enough good about Famous Footwear. When I go shopping I like to find a friendly courteous staff, a wide selection, great prices and great styles. I found all that and more at Famous Footwear. If they did not have my size or one of the children's they would order it for us. I wear an 11 wide so have had to spend a lot of time searching for stylish shoes, but not here. I always go home with a pair of comfortable and stylish shoes, or two because the second one is half off!

Also join the free rewards program. For every $1.00 spent you earn a point. Enough points will earn you a certificate up to $100.00 each year. Just for signing up receive a discount and find more within the store. What are you waiting for?

Thank you for your visit today. Take care, stay healthy and God bless!

Thankful Thursday ~ Editing

Corrected with Zoner

Uneven horizon unedited

We, us nature lovers anyway, are so grateful for two days of rain. What was withering, drying and browning has turned green again, if it hadn't died already. I've heard that produces prices are going to be seriously higher due to the drought. My son's yard was so dried out and now that it has rained I  took a look around. :-) He has these unusual flowers beginning to bloom. The buds are so tiny and they climb the entire length of the stems separate from the leaves then there are the stems with leaves. I will have to keep an eye on it to see what it does next. The next plant has berries on it. It starts with the white flowers which turn red then deep blue.

Mystery Berry

I love Photoscape. It is an awesome editing tool, but for these  photos I used Zoner. Sometimes I take photos and when I upload them I find out they have an uneven landscape. This has a cool little tool which can correct that issue, as you can see from looking at the second photo shown above.  Sometimes I need all the help I can get and it is nice to know that there is  tool made just for my goofs. lol

Amanda has a meme which she hosts every Thursday called Two Questions Thursday. With all the wonderful people that participate there I am hoping that just one of them might know the name of these mystery flowers, please.

Thank you for your visit. It is deeply appreciated. Take care, stay health and God bless!!

Thankful Thursday - Fathers

Proud Daddy

In a world where too many of our "men" partake in the pleasure of making babies, but do not stick around to change the diapers, my sons make me proud because their children are their priority.

When I was busy having my family and working to support them, many of us in the Bronx looked around us and decided that we needed someone to help us keep our children safe. I wrote the NYC Housing office and inquired into the steps needed to create a tenants association. Soon we were cleaning up graffiti and our building one brick at a time but one thing that struck a chord with me was the day that the head of the tenant's association met with us to teach us how to set up our association; he looked over the packed room, and asked "Where are the men? I see lots of children, but who rocks the cradles?"

My children's father was gone more than home until I got fed up and divorced him. Many of the women who were the backbone of our tenants association were single parents. So few men participated in the upbringing of their children so it does my heart  good to see my own sons with their children; their tenderness and playfulness truly tugs at my soul.

Amanda sponsors a great meme where we are allowed to pose two questions. Maybe that's why she calls it Thursday two questions? :-)

1.  Who was your main role model? Mine was not my father, but my mother. I was terrified of my father, but Mom was and is my rock.

2.  Is their a child other than your own that you try and guide with love? I feel that all children are our children and anyone can play an important role if they just take time to care.

Thanks so much for your visit. Take care, stay healthy and God bless!
