Farmall Tractor at Turkeyville

All aboard

Can I drive?

Shadows can be lighthearted fun, but Ellie Wiesel took a deeper look at shadows in her quote:

Most people think that shadows follow, precede or surround beings or objects. The truth is that they also surround words, ideas, desires, deeds, impulses and memories.

Grand River ~ Still Beautiful

Grand River

 Grand River

Grand River

I've been helping the kids move. I love their new place, but moving is such a lot of work, hard work!! We have a high heat index advisory and these temps do not make lifting and carrying any easier. Plus our area is so dry that much of the vegetation is drying and withering away. Just looking at the brown lawns seems to deplete of us our energy... Notice you can see the bottom of the river, which is unusual. The only precipitation I have felt for weeks, has been on my brow :-) so, I am praying for rain.

This post linked to weekend reflection. I will leave you to enjoy participating in the meme. I am off to find more boxes. :-)  Take care, stay healthy and God bless!!

Mari and I went to get a few groceries this week end. She moved here from NYC last year and I lived in NY for 16 years before returning home to Michigan. One of the things I miss about NY is the many food choices. I absolutely loved potato knishes and although Michigan is beginning to offer more variety, unusual food choices are generally only in the larger stores.

Golden clouds through

The sky tonight

With a golden glow

With a warm delight

Complimentary shades of

Thankful Thursday - Caring Bloggers

Flower collage containing mock orange, dianthus, lily, catalpa and lamb's ear

Bloggers are some of the smartest and most compassionate people alive. If you visit A Rural Journal you will see an outpouring of love in the many flowers sent to cheer up Leontien who is battling cancer. There are showers of flowers and I would like to offer mine also. God bless you, Leontien, and I wish and pray for your complete recovery.  The internet allows us to be more aware of those around us.

Amanda shares too in her meme, Thursday Two Questions. Many topics are broached and conversations are always friendly and sometimes quite informative and sometimes even very warm. Many things happen to me throughout the week that sometimes throw me completely off my blogging schedule so I might miss a lot of other memes, but I try very hard to participate in Amanda's meme. It is stimulating and enjoyable, and it's Amanda's! This week my questions are about prayer.

1. Do you believe in prayer? I completely believe in prayer, but feel that prayers are not always answered  in the way we think they should be. They require us to have faith in God's ability to know what is best for us.

2. Do you pray in a routine fashion, or are your prayers more like spontaneous conversation? I talk to God all day long.  :-) - Nothing routine about me. lol (Remember my childhood nickname was "Chatterbox" ) Thank you for your visit. Take care, stay healthy and God bless.

Don't bother me!

Faith and I sat outside for two hours in the heat the other night while my daughter, her mother talked to someone about buying her car. Theirs just had the engine seize up on it. They were lucky enough to get $350. 00 for it, selling it for parts and added just a little more to purchase another car. Such a blessing, but Faith and I were just not interested. :-) Mosquitoes were biting and we were bored.

I pulled out my camera and begin snapping and having an animated conversation with Faith. She tried to wrestle my camera away from me, when she saw the baby in the viewer. We soon were laughing and having fun.

Lately I have become quite "animated" by viewing boards on Pinterest and posting my content there too. It has EVERYTHING and 1.36 million readers a day to prove it. I would have rather been at home sitting with her on my lap while I explored the internet. Shame on me, my daughter has a car now. :-)

1.) Do you ever feel like your time is being wasted doing nothing, when there is something else you would rather be doing?

2.) Have you checked out Pinterest?

This post linked to Two Questions Thursday. Don't sit in a hot car when you can sit in the comfort of your home and visit Amanda. lol Thanks for the visit. Take care, stay healthy and God bless!!

You Deserve the Home of your Dreams

Decorating with a Tropical Feel

All my life I have worked hard. This is how I got the nickname "HardworkinJudy" from some of my co-workers. Sometimes I had 2 and 3 jobs simultaneously, while raising my four children by myself. (I didn't meet my current husband until my baby boy was 12, and my previous husband was left behind in NYC when I moved back to Michigan). We had dissolved our marriage years before.

I had always wanted a nice home when I came home, but struggling to balance time and finances always left me without the ability to create my dream home. My children have worked to create  comfortable surroundings and I am beginning to take notice of the difference a few accessories can make in creating a beautiful surrounding. There are some things I now want for myself. I would love to come home to an atmosphere that is restful and perhaps a touch exotic... In the above picture we see  how the decorator used pergola examples and fabricdraping. I like the way they tied in shades of green to give it both a tropical feel and a calm and restful atmosphere. This is just what I need when I get in from work, plus a table for the lap top. :-) (of course)

Then when it is finally time to fall into bed after working all day and playing on my lap top all night, I want a bedroom that speaks quietly carrying me off to a restful and restorative sleep. Gazing at these beautifully made beds covered with a touch of class/chenillebedspreads

and this chenille bedspread kingwithout fringe just makes me more determined to put a little aside here and there to get the comfort and beauty at home that I deserve. Don't we all deserve to live in the home of our dreams? Chenille bedspreads are perfect in any weather so can be used year around providing the sleeper with soft comfort.

Thank you for your visit. Take care, stay healthy and God bless!

Catalpa tree providing tremendous shade.

Catalpa tree blossom

Usually I am in front on my computer when I get in from work but tonight I glanced up and saw my catalpa tree was finally in bloom. I love my catalpa tree. It has grown by leaps and bounds and amazingly done so after we had it cut completely down because it decided to grow inside the corner of our concrete driveway. It behaved like it was just a good pruning, growing several feet and blooming the following year. The year after that some boys in the neighborhood tormented it, breaking several branches while I was at work. My neighbor tried to tie the broken branches up as they hung by slender remnants of their torn branches. I lost some of the branches of my brave tree but it still continues on with it's mission to provide shade to our home in the summer and block the cold winter winds in the winter. This tree appears to be on a mission. If only we could apply the same determination to our tasks!

I was shooting photos of the catalpa blooms when I heard a faint bird cry. As I looked around, I finally located the bird in the bottom of the barrel with rain water nearly up to it's neck. This picture was taken after I gently poured part of the water out.

Bird in the bottom of the barrel

Then I drained the rest of the water and laid the barrel on it's side. I read some where that birds cannot fly directly up and I wanted to release it from it's prison. I went to get some bird feed and sprinkled some on the side of the barrel leading the way out. I left for about ten minutes and came back to find a few seeds left, but no bird. Bye, little bird.

I drained the water and  let the bird go

This post linked to camera critters. Thank you for your visit. Take care, stay healthy and God bless. God loves the birds of the field so you know He loves you and I!

Shadows on a Maple Tree

Saturday, June 2, 2012

Afflictions are but the shadows of God's wings.

Shade tree

Shade tree

It was a hot spring day and I parked under this big shade tree hoping to keep my car a little cooler. After putting the windows up I glanced into this big maple tree enjoying the tranquil look of the green leaves  and the shadows dancing on the trunk and branches. Notice the deeper shaded shadows at the top and the softer lower down? Also notice the reflection of my car interior in the photos? That was not intentional. :-) This post linked to Weekend reflection and Shadow Shot Sunday.

Thank you for your visit. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Take care, stay healthy and God bless!
