Giving "Birth"

Aimee` and Faith

I am calling this post "Giving Birth" as I have had 4 grand daughters and 1 great grand daughter in less than a year, and I likened my daughter Aimee's  drive to start her own business as "giving birth".

My daughter, Aimee` and I talked after church while I held her baby, Faith. She told me that she was still thinking about pursuing her dream of becoming an interior decorator. She has a real knack for decorating but knows that with economy being what it is, redecorating is going to take a back seat for many people. Some of us live pay day to pay day without a cushion. Remember when you used to hear "pay yourself first" as our elders used to recommend tucking away for a rainy day. Well, it's raining now.

She asked me to set up a blog for her with an intro offer of $100. for one room but the price is totally negotiable depending upon what you would really like her to do for you. I called her back to find out what she wanted for a name. She had run out of minutes, so no answer. I went with "Classy on a shoestring" because I know she does everything classy and economical (cheap). Then later we all met at my youngest daughter's house for a pot luck/cook out in celebration of Memorial day and Aimee`'s birthday. I showed her the template on my laptop, but she wanted her blog's name to be "For a Change". I can change the name in the header, which I did, but now how do I change it in the url? If you click the link below her picture you will see what I mean, the url is still reflecting the original title I selected. Silly me!

This post linked to Friday Sillies. Thanks Cathy for hosting. Thanks everyone for your visit. Take care, God bless, and stay healthy!

BTW - I know her picture is dark. It  was dark outside and Aimee` is VERY camera shy, so I am hoping I will get away with posting this! :-)

It's great your daughter wants to start a business. I too have a re-decorating blog, so I was excited to see she wanted to start one of those.

One word of sound advice, Judy. Don't let her name the blog something she likes. Let her name it something people will be searching for when they want her services.

I check my keywords each day. People don't type in the phrases you have mentioned to find a re-decorating blog on a budget. I would suggest a rethink. Also, she should do the blog on and have a paid self-hosted domain.

I know this costs money, but it works out better in the end.

BTW, you can only change the url in a blog. Not in or blogger. Hope this makes sense.

Anne, thanks for your wonderful advice. It makes perfect sense. I cannot wait to run this by her.

BTW, I hope people will click on your link as there is a lot of good info on all three of your blogs!

Redecorating is a great path. I also think if you pair it with redesigning that you will get a lot more options. Never give-up, keep going until you reach your dreams Aimee.
