The Amazing Mall!

Sunday, December 9, 2012

A fifteen year old Amish boy and his father were in a mall. They were amazed by almost everything they saw, but especially by two shiny,  silver walls that could move apart and then slide back together again at the push of a button.   read more > > > >

Rose of Sharon Collage

Rose of Sharon

Once upon a time
You made my eyes shine
You quickened my pulse
But over time
You dropped your head
And fell dead
Your vibrant colors
Were brown instead
I mourn your loss
The season’s end
But know you will
Be back again
So for now
I enjoy memories of
Your pretty face
And know soon, my love
We will embrace….

Ohh my aching bum!!

Sunday, November 18, 2012

I told you I wanted Chiquita bananas, not these generic things! These hurt my bum! See!

72 characters without spaces and 87 with.

Grandma’s Goulash has a writing challenge each week and she supplies a picture. We get to write a short story of either 140 characters or words and if you use the suggested word, it’s a bonus. The meme is called succinctly yours. This week the word is generic. Well, how low can you go?

I hope you and your family are well this Thanksgiving and enjoy your holiday celebration. Thank you for visiting, take care, stay healthy and God bless!!

Thankful Thursday - Photo Storage

Cone flowers

A random selection from my photo archives yielded the above photo. Hardly a day goes by without my camera being put to good use, and many days several photos are taken in a relatively short time. Many nature scenes and family members are selected as my target and the photo cache grows and grows and grows!!

One last minute to dream

Sunday, November 4, 2012

Just for a minute she let herself dream and left the cynical side of herself rest. It was a luxury she seldom indulged in. ~99 without spaces and 123 with, bonus word cynical.

Join us at Grandma’s Goulash and enjoy the challenge of 140 characters (or less) or 140 words. Use the bonus word if you like and this week Grandma has thrown in a challenge – can you guess what product they are advertising? Leave your guess in your comment at Succinctly yours at Grandma’s Goulash. Now doesn't that sound like fun? Thanks so much for your visit. Take care, stay healthy and God bless!! Have a great week.

Thankful Thursday- Fun

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Mariolina told us that Halloween is celebrated differently in her home country. It is not like America, where it is treated mainly as a fun holiday and homes are decorated in a spooky and fun fashion with children going trick-or-treating or trunk or treating. I have never really been big into Halloween decorating; Christmas is my season. Halloween has always left me kind of lost.

1. How about you? What does Halloween mean to you?

2. How do you feel about grown ups trick or treating?

Join Amanda's two questions Thursday. I know you have something to talk about. :-) Thanks for your visit. Take care, stay healthy and God bless!!

Skittering Scattering

Autumn Maple Leaf

Fall color collage

Scattered leaves

Fall leaves

Scattered leaves

Green and  yellow leaves

Rose bush turning yellow

Skittering scattering
what is it mattering?
Like a painter
they're splattering

The wind is battering
tree branches
are shattering.
Leaves haven't
 a prayer

Skittering scattering
flying to and fro
leaves are tattering.
Where shall they go?

Thankful Thursday - Colors

Autumn Gold

I am with Icy in that I am loving our Indian summer. I took off after work the last few days and made a detour before heading home to take nature walks taking numerous pictures of the brightly colored leaves. I have at least a hundred now. :-) Home will still be there when I get there. Right?

Multi-colored leaves

1. Have you noticed that leaves come in an abundance of different colors, not merely green, yellow, orange, red and brown?

2. What is your favorite type of tree? I love the golden rain tree, the sugar maple and this mysterious specimen above. I discovered three of these trees standing outside one of my favorite thrift stores and became enamored with them last fall. The leaves are so shiny and the colors range from yellow to burgundy!

This post linked to Thursday Two Questions.

A sincere thanks for your visit. Take care, stay healthy and God bless!!

Get Twice as Much for your Money

Monday, October 22, 2012

If you are like me you have at least a dozen SD chips and at least that many flash drives to store articles and photos in. These are vitally important for data storage.   As  bloggers we are constantly creating. If we  continually stored documents and photos on our desk top we would quickly run out of space and our computers would come to a slow crawl perhaps like a snail on Valium.

I use flash drives to clean my desk top.

Periodically I review the photos stored on my desk top and create new folders on my desktop. I will either name them for the category best represented or the date. Then after I have done a full sweep on my desk top and moved all the appropriate documents and photos to folders I send the folders to jump drives and then send the files remaining on the desk top (after copying) to the recycle bin. Then I run C-cleaner to enhance the performance of my computer. Now my computer is acting like it's pumped and ready to run a marathon!

Safeguard your photos and documents!

Now I always have the right photos for whatever I need, such as flowers, herbs, family and so forth. I save my articles under categories too. I can refer to them later and use them for background on yet another article. If my computer crashes (hush - we don't want to think about that!) but it has happened, I will not lose my precious photos and articles. When I helped the kids update their resumes and file their taxes I uploaded them on their own flash drives and gave them to them for safe keeping.

They're running a special.

Photo borrowed from Pexagon Technology. I have paid as much as $19.99 for 4 GB of storage so I was thrilled when I found Pexagon Technology which offers more space for less. What else I really like is the many available colors as I am a very visual person and having different colors for different types of photos or content makes it much easier for me to organize. This site is having a special right now where you can get twice as much for the same price, and they sell so much more than storage.

I checked them out at the Better Business Bureau and they passed!

I also decided to check out their rating at the BBB. Out of a scale of A+ to F they maintain an A+ rating. And how many companies do you know that can boast a three year history without any registered complaints? They can and I'm impressed. I'm heading over there to see what else I might be interested in and it's just in time for Christmas!! Click on the green button stating "Buy now."

Thank you for your visit. Stay healthy and God bless!
