Water Kisses Sky

Sunday, July 31, 2011

When water kisses sky
And colors merge as one
We glorify our God
And watch the setting sun
Slip down upon the horizon
And slowly fade from view
The darkness blends with light
In its multi-colored hue.

Shhh! Don't tell Mari

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

I posted earlier about my son’s fiancĂ©'s visit from New York and how she and I visited various employers filling out applications, providing interviews, dropping off resumes and so forth. For the last few months she has been busy online looking up prospective employment, applying online, making calls, and mailing letters and resumes. This was hopefully going to be her last step in cementing a job so she could move here mid-July.

We took an afternoon off after she successfully landed a job (after only two all day excursions)! The above picture is Mari sneaking up on some cranes at Jeannie's farm. We enjoyed a relaxing day in the country watching cranes, chipmunks, and an assortment of wild birds. Mari nicknamed Jeannie's farm "the discovery channel".

But vacation is over. She is all settled in and has started her new job. She was advised to wear scrubs in her new capacity and unfortunately I gave all mine away when the doctor's office I worked at closed so we have been shopping at a local scrubs store. I love this particular shade of turquoise. It is my favorite color, but hers is purple.

I am so proud of her. She has been so unselfish, determined, dedicated,  and hardworking in her pursuit of a job to successfully  start her new life with us in Michigan that I want to get her a gift certificate at my favorite scrub store: http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/  Please don't tell her. I want her to be surprised.

This day in age a woman's life is so busy. She deserves a break from all her household chores and these scrubs are just what the "doctor ordered" for a more stress free life. They wash and wear without ever needing an iron and stay so crisp and fresh looking. Jumping into a pair of scrubs to rush off to work is so much better than spending hours searching for the right thing to wear. They are always right.

One orange photo is all she wrote.

I picked three photos last night to upload. I waited a few hours and only one had succeeded. I left the computer contemplating on the last two and went to bed. This morning I got up and it still only had uploaded one. So sorry, but Judy has to go to work now. One will have to do. :-)

Shadows against the house

Sunday, July 24, 2011

The last photo is of a catnip plant which seeded itself in a hanging pot on my shepherds hook. A few years ago I had planted a tomato in it and never bothered to plant anything else after picking the tomatoes.  It is a welcome visitor, and I hope it stays for a very long time as Tiger enjoys it's leaves and I it's tea. For more about the herbal benefits of catnip you can read here.

My Son's Rock Band

Sunday, July 17, 2011

Thanks for the article from Jermaine Haynes
Our teenaged son has started a rock band with some of his friends and they are pretty darned good. After checking with our neighbors to make sure it was OK with them, we gave them permission to practice in our garage, which is detached from our home. They practice like Trojans out there three nights a week and have all their equipment stored there. Last week our son approached us and asked if we would consider installing a security system there if the band would pay half the cost. It made us proud that he was responsible enough to be thinking of protecting his investment in their sound equipment so we searched at ALLHOMESECURITY.COM to find a system that would work. They are playing at teen clubs around the area and have even been asked to perform at a couple of fall festivals in the area later this year. I don’t think any of these guys are the next Bono but they are having a good time and it’s keeping them out of trouble for now.

Thankful Thursday - Bed :-)

Thursday, July 14, 2011

No, this isn't my bed. I wish :-) But then, if it were I probably wouldn't be sitting down here in the wee hours of the night trying to get my post completed. I would be drifting off to a very satisfying sleep. Look at this bed,  could it be anything else but comfy?!?! And I love that window!

Did you know that not getting enough rest is dangerous to your health?
In fact they have studies which show how cheating yourself from proper rest shortens your life and other studies which indicate there are more auto accidents related to drowsiness than alcohol impairment. Scary stuff! For more read here.

1. How many hours do you require to feel rested? I need at least 8, but seldom get it, so I end up napping or sleeping in on the weekend.

2. What would be your dream bed?

Please join the gab fest at Amanda's. The conversation is always enlightening and lively. Thanks for vising me. Your visit is always appreciated. Take care and God bless! Linked to Thursday Two Questions.

All things Yellow

Sunday, July 10, 2011

Leaving work Friday, I walked through the four floor building that we work in. There are various tenants there and this particular little guy sat outside the closed bridal boutique on the second floor. The yellow caught my attention immediately.

I found these the week end before last while shopping with my future daughter in law Mari. I had never tasted yellow watermelon so I bought a slice. I took pictures before biting. See? But it tastes the same.  How did they do that?
This is from last week end. At the open house of my grand daughters I enjoyed a photo collage they had created of my grand daughters. So I took pictures of some of the pictures of my granddaughters. These two are Monie and her cousin on vacation last year at Myrtle Beach. The lily was photographed in front of my place of employment. So there you have it; some of the mellow yellow things I have enjoyed the last two weekends. For more yellow join us at Mellow Yellow.

Thanks for your visit. Take care and God bless.

A Rainbow in the Sky

Sunday, July 3, 2011

I stand alone
The only one
Gazing at the sky

It was hot and humid
All day
Clothes clinging to our skin

When suddenly
The many clouds begin
Rolling around on high
First came the thunder
Then wind
And the showers did begin
And when the clouds
Began to roll by
They left a rainbow
In the sky!
