A loaf of bread and a long legged bird

This particular grocery store features more than just food. On the outskirts of the parking lot it has a pond and I am always on the alert for whatever interesting things I might find there. Mr. or Mrs. Crane, as I am not sure which, wasn't enthused to find me prowling near his/her hangout  today so it took a step back every time I took a step forward.
I loved watching its steps. First the neck would "crane" with its beak poking forward then it would lift its foot from the water as if tip toeing and gingerly stretch it forward watching me the whole time. For more about cranes check out this link. There are 15 different species and I found the Grey Crowned one to be really attractive.

Thanks so much for your visit. Take care and God bless. This post linked to Weekend Reflections and Camera Critters.

The crane is beautiful and I love his/her reflection. If our grocery store had a pond nearby I would be prowling there too. Somehow the concrete that surrounds our stores isn't nearly as interesting.

Awesome capture, Judy! At first, I thought it was an egret. See how much I know about birds? :-)

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
