Even Jesus took time to pray

Saturday, January 29, 2011

Feeling pressured by the tasks you have undone? Can you imagine the list Jesus had? So before we start feeling overwhelmed, we can stop and take in the beauty God creates. With all the things He does, he makes time for us...

There is laundry to be done
Groceries to be bought
When is there time for fun?
Are you feeling overwrought?

Dinner must be made
Dishes must be washed
It's not a day in the shade
Dreams are often squashed

You must fit them in
When a moment can be grabbed
Very seldom can you win
Without your conscience stabbed

We must do it all
The family and the bills
We try to stand tall
It's a battle of the wills

But if we don't stop first
And take a minute out for God
Then things will be much worst
And we'll be over trod.

If we do not take that break
And become in one accord
Then we'll make a mistake
And lose connection with our Lord.

Even Jesus took time to pray. God bless you and have a wonderful week. This post linked to Spiritual Sundays.

Watching Outside from Within

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

I drove to the lake one windy night
Watching the clouds as they seemed to fight
Watching the trees as they leaned to the right
The wind blew cold, it shivered my skin
The wind blew bold, and kept me within
I took the pictures while sitting afar
From the rolled down window inside my car

Thanks for joining me for Outdoor WednesdayWatery Wednesday and happy hump day!!

Thankful Thursday - Four Seasons

Friday, January 21, 2011

Tis a monochrome day
All shades of gray
No warming sunshine
On display

I yearn for the warmth
Of brighter days
For the cheeriness
of golden rays
For flowers with bright
and shining faces

For leaves of green and orange and red
And pretty robins bobbing their heads.
Four seasons do we know and love
With differences created by God above

Colors with beauty we embrace
With hues as varied as the human race

An interrupted cat nap

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

One of my friend Jeannie's cats was comfortably napping while she and I sat on our lap tops typing away and watching Matlock. She was telling me about the news story she had heard about the other day where people were using scanners or readers to steal data from innocent person's credit card information among other things. She and I were busy searching the internet for more information on the topic when we looked up to see her cat napping away. I had to stop researching my article Electronic Pickpocketing long enough to snap some pictures of Muffin while she was still. :-) Actually, it was not my intention to disturb her dreams, but she was so adorable. I can never resist a cute picture!

This link posted to Camera Critters. Have a great and blessed week!

Thankful Thursday - Healing

Thursday, January 13, 2011

Our president gave a stirring and emotional tribute/memorial tonight.  I want to highlight some of the thoughts for you:

Quotes from the night:

  • Our hearts are broken but our spirit is not.
  • Gabby opened her eyes for the first time
  • If Gabby opened her eyes maybe we can too - Rev. C Welton Gaddy
  • Question one's ideas without questioning one's love for their country
  • Talk to people in a way that heals and not wounds
  • We will be known not by our status, wealth or fame but how we loved
  • The forces that divide us are not as strong as those that unite us
  • Let us create an America  as good as our children imagine
  • Let our country live up to our children's expectations
  • With a democracy as good as Christina (Taylor Green) imagined it.
  • "We are so blessed. We have the best life" Christina
If I have a word or two off here or there please forgive me. Most of these quotes were made by our president, President Obama. I was caught up in the inspiring speech and hated to tear my eyes from the screen. President Obama and many of the heroes, religious and political leaders there spoke to hearty applause and standing ovations. A plea was made  for a good dose of humility and civility in our discourse, one to make our victims proud. We need to live up to their example. They died bravely, serving and loving our country.

My good friend, Icy has this on her blog:

May you have the commitment to heal what has hurt you, to allow it to come close to you, and in the end, become one with you.**** A Gaelic Blessing. Such wise words, Icy. Thank you for sharing them with us!

My two questions:

1) What is your hope for this country?
2) What part can we as individuals play to make that hope come alive?

Please pray for the healing of the families of our victims and our nation.

If you have the time please join us in  Two Questions Thursday. This is such a great way to get to know one another. THIS Take care and God bless! photo source

Lady in red..

Monday, January 10, 2011

Valentine's day is right around the corner and my mind  wonders back to more romantic days....

I've never seen you looking so gorgeous as you did tonight
I've never seen you shine so bright
You're amazing
I never seen so many people want to be there by your side
And when you turn to me and smile
You took my breath away
I have never had such a feeling
Such a feeling of complete and utter love
As i do tonite

Lady in red is dancing with me...cheek to cheek
There's nobody here
It's just you and me
It's where I wanna be
And I hardly know
This beauty by my side
I'll never forget the way you look tonight...

A little romance never hurt anyone, did it? Join us for Ruby Tuesday!  Take care and God bless!

Thankful Thursday - Fur Buddies

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

My earliest memories are full of dogs, cats, and various farm animals. They have always held a special place in my heart. The dog pictured here is my mother's cock-a-poo. Funny thing it looks just like the cocker spaniel poodle blend we grew up with. That dog was so smart, and so is Mom's! This little dog gives her so much company and love. How can I not be grateful for it? Owning a pet is good for our health. Research indicates that children learn better social skills from having a pet in their home and also suffer from fewer allergies. Adults have longer life expectancies when they own pets. Mom treats this little dog just like her baby, so I jokingly refer to her as my baby sister. I love the way she never stops giving my mother unconditional love. I think we could all use more of it!

"Statistically, someone who has had a heart attack has a 500% better survival rate when they return to a home with a pet." - Unsung Heroes It's Thursday and it's time to enjoy two questions Thursday!

My two questions are: 1) What is your favorite pet?

2) Why?

Take care and God bless!
