My Baby Boy's Back!

Sunday, August 23, 2009

This summer I had a surprise call from the sister of my ex husband. It had been over 15 years since I had heard from any of my exes family, so I was almost in shock, but my youngest was ecstatic. He had wondered about his family and wanted to meet them.
I posted in my blog earlier about our call and his trip. I have long ( a whole week) awaited his return. While I was/am happy for him and his opportunity to meet the sisters, nephew, and father he never knew, I was pins and needles waiting for his safe return. It seems the worse thing that happened to him was a blood blister from getting his finger pinched. But I believe I am a normal mother. It was not enough to hear his voice, I had to see him and touch him. He's back. He loved it; had stories to tell, but is glad to be home. and we are happy to have him.

I'll take squirrels.

See the lizard climbing up this tree. He laughingly told me that lizards in Puerto Rico are like our squirrels here. They are everywhere. He showed me a picture of one of his sisters playing with a rather large snake belonging to her uncle. I have not included pictures of his family, as I did not obtain permission.

It is not just hot, but humid there.

We asked about the fire, and he said they seem to start easily because of the extreme heat. He said his father's home had fans and air conditioning, but he still found himself showering three times a day because of the humidity. The fire station looks different than ours, but as long as everything functions.

The scenery is breathtaking.

My son's girl, LaToya said there are many multicolored homes up in the mountains and it is a beautiful sight to see all the homes resting in the mountain sides in an array of different colors. She said she wished she could have gotten pictures of them. They brought me back 75 pictures and I'm loving my mini-vacation by browsing through them and listening to their adventures.

The vegetation there is green year around. He visited the beach and the river. He said the beach was amazing because the water was hot. You don't cool off from a dip. He said the river had fish and wild life, so they (my son and his girl) were not quite used to sharing the water with fish.
